After 5 months of experience at GlueLabs, I would like to share my thoughts on working with GlueLabs.

This summer, I had the opportunity to intern at Glue Labs. This internship was conducted remotely as Glue Labs is headquartered in New Delhi. I heard about this opportunity through our college placement cell and was excited to learn. It definitely was beyond what I expected, and each day brought multiple surprises and a new outlook on the Software Development industry.

The selection process for the software engineer domain was pretty simple. The first round was a resume review followed by a coding test where we were given some problems to solve and finally an interview where we were asked some questions related to the web development and software engineering domain. All these processes were smooth and after a week, I got the offer letter.

On day one, I did not know what to expect as I was just about to walk into a new place. Going in as a software development-focused intern, I wanted to learn everything I could possibly learn to take with me. I and other interns were divided into groups according to our skill domains and introduced to our respective mentors. I got into React JS training and my training started from day one.

In training, all major concepts and most commonly Libraries of React were taught to us. The training went on for 2 months after which we were assigned to senior software engineers to work along with them on practical projects.

We were assigned mini projects to help build concepts and get a firm grip on how things work practically. My first mini project was to make a pixel-perfect to-do list app with TypeScript, NextJS, and Tailwind CSS, which took me about 2 weeks. After it, I was assigned multiple mini projects to explore different React Libraries like css-doodles , mantine , nivo charts, etc.

Then I was put on our company’s live project “BOOM”, a marketplace for NFTs. I majorly work in a team of 3, on the front-end of the app designing UI components and shared containers according to the Figma designs given to us, fetching data using GraphQL, and making live and interactive graphs using Nivo Charts. I am also assigned to work with my manager on the admin panel of the Boom App.

The engineers at Glue Labs helped me not only gain some experience but also showed me an insider view of how things are really done and expected at a higher level. Not only did I make new networking connections, but I now have a group of supporting people to reach out to for help.
